On Monday 21 September the Martin Sheridan and John McDonnell Bursary Awards were presented at Ardagh Community Centre, recognising seven outstanding and deserving athletes for their dedication and achievements in sport.

The 2026 bursary recipients were Pearse Gallagher, Eoghan Jennings, Pearl Sands, Holly Renton, Barry Langan, Cathal McNicholas and Damien Moyles of Crossmolina.

The awards were presented by Mayo Cathaoirleach, Cllr John Caulfield, who congratulated all recipients on their hard work and commitment.

The bursary scheme is funded through Mayo County Council and Portwest, and is administered by the Martin Sheridan and John McDonnell Committee. It continues to provide valuable support to talented athletes as they pursue their sporting ambitions. Congratulations to all seven.
